Kurt Vonnegut’s advice on how to make your soul grow helped me break through my writer’s block this week: I started typing up new poems or tiny stories and then destroying them. Like the overzealous me that I am, I decided to destroy them by lighting them on fire in my bathroom sink, which was awesome until, you know, fire in the house. Thankfully, everyone is safe except for a towel, I’m writing again, and now I know to just tear them up into tiny pieces like he said. That’s what I get for not listening.

Also, if you’re into these, here’s a fantastic interview (or 4) of K.V. via the Paris Review.
